Illinois House Republicans Failed Illinois, Will Governor Rauner?
Following silence from IL Congressional GOP before Trump’s withdrawal from climate accord, IDCCA calls on Governor Rauner not to fail our state
Springfield, IL – Following President Trump’s announcement that the U.S. would withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, Illinois Democratic County Chairmen’s Association President Doug House released the following statement:
“Yesterday, Donald Trump prioritized politics over science, and jeopardized the well being of our children’s and grandchildren’s future,” said Doug House. “Leading up to this disastrous decision, the silence from the Illinois Republican Congressional Delegation – Peter Roskam, Rodney Davis, Randy Hultgren, Darren LaHood, Adam Kinzinger, John Shimkus, and Mike Bost – was deafening. Our Republican leaders in Washington failed us, and we’ll now pay the price for years to come.”
Last night, citizens in Illinois announced they would today march from Trump Tower in Chicago to the James R. Thompson Center to call on Governor Rauner to pledge to support the climate deal.
“I’m joining other Illinoisans in now calling on Governor Rauner to rise to the occasion, and stand up against Donald Trump. Join other governors in America who are committing to the Paris Accord, and make sure Illinois has a clean power plan to protect our environment for our generations to come.”
