IDCCA Response to Illinois Congressional Republicans Repeal of the ACA

Springfield, IL – Illinois Democratic County Chairmen’s Association President Doug House released the following statement in response to the Illinois Congressional Republicans repeal of the Affordable Care Act:

“It is a dark day in Illinois when the Republican Congressional delegation blindly votes for a measure that will strip thousands of their constituents of health insurance. Republicans are popping champagne, while Illinois families are figuring out how they can survive without this life saving safety net. Peter Roskam, Mike Bost, Rodney Davis, Randy Hultgren, John Shimkus, Adam Kinzinger and Darin LaHood should be ashamed of themselves.”

“Each of these Congressman just voted to take away healthcare from our most vulnerable citizens like rape victims, babies with heart defects and children like my son Spencer, who suffers from Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes. In their callous vote today, they did manage to include billions of dollars in tax cuts to the wealthy. So guys like Governor Bruce Rauner get a 6-million-dollar tax cut while Illinois families lose their health insurance.”

“In the upcoming midterm elections, voters in Illinois will not forget what these individuals did.”
