Dem County Chairmen’s Association Statement
regarding Governor’s budget failures
Springfield, IL – Doug House, President of the Illinois Democratic County Chairmen’s Association, released the following statement in response to Governor Bruce Rauner’s continued failure to do his job.
“Governor Rauner’s management of the fiscal situation in Illinois is an abject failure,” said Illinois Democratic County Chairmen President Doug House.
“Make no mistake, the stalemate that has led to the extraordinary damage being done to ordinary people in Illinois is his responsibility.
“He is the Governor of the State of Illinois and in its 199-year history, it has never endured the fiscal disaster that has occurred under his watch.
“It has faced the challenges wrought by natural and manmade disasters, conflicts both foreign and domestic, and the tremendous strife of societal change. Throughout all those tragedies, from Chicago to Cherry and through wars that tore at Illinois, we always passed a budget.
“The Governor’s most basic responsibility is to pass a budget and every Governor before him has done it under much tougher circumstances. He has failed the people of Illinois and he should be replaced.”
Late yesterday, it was reported that Governor Rauner apparently strong armed Senate Republicans into voting against a bipartisan compromise. It is clear from his actions that Bruce Rauner does not want to pass a budget and doesn’t care who might be hurt because of this.
