DEMOCRATIC COUNTY CHAIRMEN ELECT DOUG HOUSE TO FULL TERM AS PRESIDENT OF IDCCA
Springfield, IL – “We will be organized, active and vocal in our opposition to Governor Rauner.”
For the past six months this has been the rallying cry of Illinois Democratic County Chairmen’s Association President Doug House. President House was elected in November 2015 to finish the term of previous IDCCA President Mike Mathis. Since that time the IDCCA has seen a surge in involvement statewide.
Over the last six months the IDCCA has brought on a new Executive Director, started a monthly newsletter for County Chairmen and Precinct Committeemen, revamped our website and social media, and hosted our first ever Chicago fundraiser. “We have seen in increase in participation from all of the County Chairmen” said President House. “I should thank Governor Rauner. He has unified and motivated the Democratic Party and the IDCCA like never before. His constant attacks on the middle class and his support of the GOP Presidential Nominee Donald Trump continue to prove how wrong he is for Illinois”.
On Saturday May 14th, the General Membership of the IDCCA met in Springfield to elect their leadership for the next two years. IDCCA President Doug House was overwhelmingly supported by the General Membership and was elected to a full term.
President House said “I am honored to continue to lead this great organization and I appreciate the support of all the County Chairmen. It shows that they have bought into the new vision for our organization.” President House shared his three-year plan with the organization that includes recruitment and training of Precinct Committeemen, hired staff in targeted legislative races and a strategic communications plan to call out Governor Rauner for his constant attacks on the middle class.
“We have to start working now if we are going to defeat Rauner in 2018. This is a prize fight and the first round was this past Primary where several of Rauner’s backed candidates lost. The second round will be the upcoming General Election. We need to do everything we can to get Tammy Duckworth, Susana Mendoza and all of our legislative candidates elected.”
President House was recently reelected the Chairman of the Rock Island County Democratic Party; a position he has held since April 2012. He is also a 25-year member of Operating Engineers Local 150 and had previously served as the Political Director to the late Congressman Lane Evans.
