IDCCA President’s Message

//IDCCA President’s Message
Doug House

For the IDCCA, 2016 will be a year of continuous change and reinvention. For years, our organization has been viewed primarily as a downstate organization. We are breaking that mold and expanding our presence throughout the State of Illinois. This is not just change for change sake. We are looking to provide value and resources to each of the County Chairmen, to our Democratic partners, and to Organized Labor.

That is why we have developed a three year plan with the ultimate goal of making sure Governor Rauner does not get a second term. This plan will rely heavily on trained and motivated Precinct Committeeman. These individuals are the true grassroots efforts of the Democratic Party. They are the individuals who have knocked on hundreds of doors, made thousands of phone calls, walked in countless parades and done what is needed to make sure that Democrats are elected. The IDCCA is extremely thankful for the commitment of these individuals and we want to provide necessary training to make sure these individuals are ready come November.

Another major part of our three year plan is cohesive field plan in targeted counties throughout the state. We will recruit, train and then place these professional field organizers in counties where there are targeted House or Senate races. These individuals will be splitting time between the legislative race and any county wide races. Our goal is for these individuals to be liaisons between the counties and the IDCCA.

We are already seeing millions pouring into targeted races from Governor Rauner and his billionaire friends. These individuals care very little for our state and are only interested in advancing their own self interests. They do not care about the social services that are being cut on a daily basis. They don’t care about MAP Grant funding to allow poor and middle class families to send their children to college. They believe that Illinois is a business that needs to be stripped down and sold off for parts. We must not allow this to happen. That is why we are going to take the fight to Governor Rauner.

In order to do this, we first need your support. I am happy to announce that on March 21st the IDCCA will be hosting our first ever Chicago Reception. The Reception is being co-Hosted by three of our strongest supporters in Speaker of the House Michael Madigan, Senate President John Cullerton and U.S. Senator Dick Durbin. The continued support of these leaders, the support of the members of our Host Committee, and Organized Labor’s steadfast support represent a large investment in the future of our Democratic Party and the IDCCA. I hope that you will join us in standing against Governor Rauner.
