ILLINOIS DEMOCRATIC COUNTY CHAIRMEN’S ASSOCIATION OFFERS CONDOLENCES
AFTER THE PASSING OF FORMER ILLINOIS SENATE PRESIDENT PHIL ROCK
Springfield, IL – The Illinois Democratic County Chairmen’s Association would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of former Illinois Senate President Phil Rock. President Rock was a pillar in the Illinois Senate and his passing has cast a dark cloud over Illinois today.
IDCCA President Doug House said “President Rock was a larger than life individual. During his time in the Illinois Senate he ushered in many positive changes for our state.” In response to a national and then regional outbreak of rubella, Illinois faced an unprecedented crisis of children who were deaf or blind. President Rock was instrumental in the creation of the Illinois Deaf – Blind Service Center and School. President Rock’s mark on history still lives on at the Philip J. Rock Center and School in Glen Ellyn.
“Today we have lost a leader in the Illinois Democratic Party but more importantly Illinois has lost a great Statesman” said IDCCA President House.
