Democratic County Chair President Responds to Override of Governor’s Veto

Illinois will finally be able to start fixing the problems created by Rauner

Springfield, IL – On Thursday, July 6th, the Illinois House of Representatives voted to override Bruce Rauner’s veto of a bipartisan, balanced budget. The move comes just days after the Illinois Senate similarly voted to override the Governor’s veto. On day 736 of Bruce Rauner’s term in office, Illinois finally has a state budget.

Illinois Democratic County Chairmen’s Association President Doug House issued the following statement regarding the override vote this afternoon:

“Governor Rauner wanted a crisis to enact his radical agenda and Illinois has suffered because of it. I applaud legislatures from both Parties for standing up to Rauner to begin to repair the damage to Illinois that he has done.”

House further added:

“I have hope for our state that, despite the failed leadership of Bruce Rauner, that we can come together to do what is right. We have a long road to fix the problems that Bruce Rauner has created but I truly believe we can get there.”
