Democratic County Chairmen’s Association Statement on
Governor Rauner Budget Address

Springfield, IL – Doug House, President of the Illinois Democratic County Chairmen’s Association, released the following statement in response to Governor Bruce Rauner’s third budget address before the Illinois General Assembly on Wednesday, January 15:

“Illinois has been without a complete, balanced budget for over two years. In Governor Rauner’s third budget address since his election, Bruce Rauner failed to deliver a constitutionally mandated budget.

Colleges and universities from Chicago down to Carbondale are struggling. Domestic violence programs continue to go unfunded.  Job growth in Illinois continues to decrease since the beginning of his term.  And the states’ backlog of unpaid bills approaches $12 billion.

While Rome burns, Governor Rauner continues to push his non-budgetary agenda instead of doing his job. Illinois deserves better.”
