Hillary Clinton to headline 49th Annual Salute to Labor Picnic in Hampton, IL
Springfield, IL – The Rock Island County Democratic Party and the Illinois Democratic County Chairmen’s Association is pleased to announced that on Labor Day (Monday September 5th), Secretary Hillary Clinton, Democratic nominee for President of the United States, will headline the 49th Annual Salute to Labor Picnic in Hampton, IL. The Salute to Labor Picnic, hosted by the Rock Island County Democratic Party, is one of the largest Labor Day events in the Midwest.
Rock Island County Democratic Party Chairman and President of the Illinois Democratic County Chairmen’s Association Doug House said, “We are proud to have Secretary Clinton back in the Quad Cities. She is a champion of Organized Labor and she understands what is at stake in this election. She understands that our country is stronger together and that means fighting for the middle class.” This will be Secretary Clinton’s second time attending this event. Secretary Clinton attended the Salute to Labor Picnic in 2015.
Joining Secretary Clinton and Chairman House will be US Senator Dick Durbin, Congresswoman and candidate for US Senate Tammy Duckworth (IL 8th), Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL 17th), Congressman Dave Loebsack (IA 2nd), Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs, Chicago City Clerk and candidate for Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza and Chris Kennedy (Chairman of Joseph P. Kennedy Enterprises, Inc.). They will also be joined by several legislators and candidates from Illinois and Iowa.
The Salute to Labor Picnic will also honor two national Labor leaders who have roots in the Quad Cities. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers International President Lonnie Stephenson and United Auto Workers President Dennis Williams both launched their Labor leadership careers in the Quad Cities. Both individuals will be honored during the Salute to Labor Picnic.
The Salute to Labor Picnic will take place on Labor Day, Monday September 5th, at Illiniwek Park Riverfront site on Route 84 in Hampton, IL. The Picnic will start at 11:15am and the speaking program will begin around 1:00pm. This event is free to attend and is family friendly.
