IDCCA President’s Message

I love a Parade!

The Fourth of July weekend has now come and gone, many of you were in parades showing your political pride. Never under estimate that outward expression of being a Democrat when you march in a parade. It is a demonstrative exclamation of who you are! People you know gave a cheer or thumbs up or were caused to pause because you demonstrated a pride in who you are and publicly stood up for the shared beliefs of being a Democrat. While it was liberating for you it may very well have been empowering and motivational for others to do the same.  You started a conversation with the public and you raised our Democratic Party’s visibility. And you did not concede valuable turf that is often used by Republicans as well to get their message out.

Remember it is now less than 125 days until the general election and people are making decisions now for who they vote for. If you have not participated in walking with your local Democratic Party or our candidates in a parade, please consider doing so because it is fun and because it does serve a valuable purpose. There is nothing more liberating! And we can all use the exercise.
